Print Care
Handling and Unpacking
How should I unpack my new print?
Leave it unrolled unit it reaches your professional framer.
Never force a tightly rolled print flat.
Allow 24 hours for the paper to naturally acclimate to room temperature before framing.
Can I touch the print surface?
Avoid skin contact completely with the printed image area.
Wear white cotton gloves to prevent transferring natural skin oils.
Hold by the borders using two hands to avoid creasing the heavy paper.
Framing and Display
What type of framing protects the print best?
Use archival materials including acid-free mat boards and backing.
Select UV-protective glass or museum acrylic to block harmful light rays.
Never frame directly against glass to prevent condensation and ink sticking.
Where is the best place to hang the photograph?
Avoid direct sunlight to prevent colors from fading over time.
Keep away from heat sources like radiators, fireplaces, or air vents.
Do not hang in humid areas such as bathrooms or uninsulated basements.
Cleaning and Maintenance
How do I clean dust of the print?
Use soft brush made of anti-static microfiber or camel hair.
Brush very gently across the surface without applying downward pressure.
Never use liquids or compressed air cleaners on the bare print surface.
What should I do if the print gets dirty?
Take it to a professional conservator or framer for cleaning.
Do not rub the surface, as this will scratch the delicate emulsion.
